Dositeja Scholarship Award Ceremony in 2022

05. July 2022.

"Dositeja" is a scholarship awarded by the Fund for Young Talents of the Republic of Serbia to talented and successful students. The name of the award is inspired by the greatest Serbian educator and reformer Dositej Obradović, who left an indelible mark in our history with his work. This year too, the awarding of scholarships was held as a part of the "Academic Week" event.

About the conference

This year's "Dositeja" opened with the awarding of scholarships in Niš and marked the beginning of the “Academic Week”. The certificate, which received a completely new look last year, and which our team of designers, artists and historians worked on, achieved a record number of 1550 certificates this year, that were awarded to the most successful students from all over Serbia.

As a part of the “Academic Week”, ceremonial events were held at the Universities of Kragujevac and Niš, where the Minister of Youth and Sports and the President of the Fund for Young Talents, Vanja Udovičić, presented awards to the most successful students.

The closing ceremony of the “Academic Week” was held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, in the great hall of the Serbian National Theater in Novi Sad, and we were entrusted with the organization of the event for the second time in a row.

The closing ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, who personally presented certificates on stage to the most successful graduates, whose average grade throughout their schooling was 10.00.

The event opened with the student anthem "Gaudeamus igitur", performed by the choir of the Serbian National Theatre.

In addition to the president of the Fund for Young Talents, Vanja Udovičić, and the President of the
Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, the audience was addressed by the mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš
Vučević, Milica Vinaver, Stanislav Vinaver's granddaughter, as well as one of the winners of the "Dositeja" scholarship, Marko Šušnjar.

The Serbian National Theater

The Serbian National Theater

The Serbian National Theater was founded on July 16/28, 1861 in Novi Sad, in the then Austrian Empire (Austro-Hungarian Monarchy since 1867).

The Serbian National Theater has always been one of the most important cultural institutions in the
country, and we should not forget that the SNP initiated the establishment of other cultural institutions, such as the Sterija Theater in 1956, the Academy of Arts in 1970, and the Theater Museum of Vojvodina in 1982.

Novi Sad

Novi Sad

Founded in 1694, Novi Sad was the center of Serbian culture for a long time, which is why it was often called the Serbian Athens. Today, Novi Sad is a large industrial and financial center of the Serbian economy, a university city and school center, a cultural, scientific, health and political center of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, a city that hosts many international and domestic economic, cultural, scientific and sports events, as well as a city of museums, gallery, library and theater.

The city lies on the banks of the Danube River, between the 1252nd and 1262th kilometers of the river course. On the left bank of the Danube is the plain part of the city (Bačka), while on the right bank, of the slopes of Fruška Gora, is the hilly part of the city (Srem). The altitude on the Bača side is from 72 to 80 m, while on the Srem side it is between 250 and 350 m.

This year, in 2022, Novi Sad holds the honorary title of European Capital of Culture.
